Allen Cyizanye is currently the Executive Secretary of the Gender Monitoring Office, a Rwandan Government institution entrusted to overseeing compliance with gender equality principles and promoting accountability to gender equality across Public, CSOs/FBOs and private institutions at all levels.
Before taking on that role, she worked for the same institution but under different positions. This included serving as a Director in Charge of Monitoring GBV Prevention and Response and a staff in charge of monitoring regional and international commitments on gender equality. She has extensive working experience in gender equality, women’s empowerment and fighting gender-based violence.
Her main focus of work has been on gender equality and engaging a broader range of stakeholders, including those from public and private sectors. Academically, she has a legal background and holds a master’s in Gender and Development.
